Class – Can Collages with Lindsay Huff

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  Raid your recycling bin and repurpose your aluminum cans for art! Students can choose from a variety of sizes of wood backing board and will cut and hammer aluminum cans into colorful collages.

Collages can be decorative, or functional with the addition of hooks for hanging items like keys or jewelry.

INSTRUCTOR: Lindsay Huff is an artist and metalsmith who creates wearable art and works primarily in enamel. Her artistic process stems from a fascination with her materials and environment. Lindsay graduated with a BFA in Metalsmithing from Syracuse University, where she began her first experiments with enameling. As an artist, Lindsay loves the act of transformation and the dialogue between certainty and uncertainty: how glass enamels react with each other, the anticipation of waiting for a piece to reveal itself after a firing, and the hammered metamorphosis of sheet metal to the finished vessel.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

TUITION: $40 (due at time of registration) + EVENTBRITE FEE $4.28 (due at time of registration)

MATERIALS: All materials provided, but you can lend a hand by bringing your own cans either to use individually or to share and to add to the supplies. If bringing your own empty cans please make sure they are rinsed (ideally with soap and water, shaken up, rinsed, and flipped upside down to dry) as residue can be sticky and grow mold!

The Instructor will have tools available for student use.
