PLEASE NOTE: This is a four-part class series; each class is a 3-hour session. Registering for this class includes registration for ALL of the sessions below:
CLASS DESCRIPTION In this 4-week class we will construct aesthetically pleasing drawings of the human form by first utilizing short gestural poses and building up to sustained poses, using pencil, pastel, and charcoal.
INSTRUCTOR Ryan Ian McCormick is an American colorblind painter. His work is noted for its wild use of color.
Due to his colorblindness, McCormick doesn’t see as many “in-between” colors; therefore, he tends to use highly contrasting colors. Often times, McCormick will only use two complimentary colors – like purple and yellow – to complete a painting. Born in Michigan in 1982, McCormick went on to study English and studio art at Michigan State University where he graduated in 2006. In 2009, he moved to Pittsburgh to capture the beautiful countryside of Western Pennsylvania with his unique use of color. He has had many solo and collaborative shows in the Pittsburgh area. McCormick uses his pain, happiness and eyes to inform his work.
