CLASS DESCRIPTION: Coiling is an ancient tradition for building baskets out of natural and recycled materials. We’ll learn basic stitching and design techniques to create baskets that are great for organizing, decoration, and giving gifts of love! This is a great summer-time craft for keeping in a beach bag or keeping your hands busy while you marathon your favorite show.
INSTRUCTOR: Jenn Gooch
Jenn Gooch is a Texan transplant living in Pittsburgh for 12 years. She’s studied, taught, and worked in textiles including weaving, basketry, embroidery, dying, and sewing for more than a decade.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
TUITION: $40 (due at time of registration) + EVENTBRITE FEE $4.28 (due at time of registration)
MATERIALS FEE: $5 due at class to be paid to Instructor
- Coiling materials : jute rope, thick cotton rope (clothesline rope)
- Stitching materials: embroidery floss, yarn, thick thread
- Tapestry needles
CLASS MINIMUM 4 students.
REFUND / CANCELLATION POLICY Our instructors require a minimum number of students to teach. In order to minimize cancellations that inconvenience our instructors and other students, class cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the start of class. Students who comply with this requirement will receive a full refund. Students who do not comply will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
