CLASS DESCRIPTION: Shibori refers to the Japanese resist dying techniques we often call “tie-dye.” Through folding, clamping, wrapping, and binding we’ll dye beautiful patterns on fabric with indigo, a vibrant natural blue dye used for centuries. We’ll explore Kanoko, Kumo, Itajime, and Arashi Shibori resisting techniques to achieve a variety of patterns on fabric.

Jenn Gooch is a Texan transplant living in Pittsburgh for 12 years. She’s studied, taught, and worked in textiles including weaving, basketry, embroidery, dying, and sewing for more than a decade. I

- Indigo Kits (provided)
- 5 Gallon Buckets
- PVC Pipe for Arashi
- Twine for Arashi
- Rubber bands, wood blocks, popsicle sticks
- Blank items to dye (might include tea towels, totes, scarves etc.)
CLASS MINIMUM 4 students.
REFUND / CANCELLATION POLICY Our instructors require a minimum number of students to teach. In order to minimize cancellations that inconvenience our instructors and other students, class cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the start of class. Students who comply with this requirement will receive a full refund. Students who do not comply will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
