All instruction will take place at Artsmiths in Mt. Lebanon.
Class Description: Maker Spaces are on the leading edge of education. In this week long exploration of Making, campers will explore the 5 major STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) areas. They will engage with one another in a variety of activities and projects including making “Upcycled” robots, solar ovens, electric circuits, and air powered vehicles while they become familiar with the engineering design process under the guidance of a Pa state certified elementary teacher. Come and let your ingenuity, creativity, and imagination loose and create the next great invention!
Instructor: William Zbonzy-Del Percio is a 3rd grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Mt. Lebanon. He has been trained in making instruction at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum and utilizes the Matt’s Maker Space donated to his school by the Conover family in their son Matt’s name in his annual curriculum. Ages: Students entering grades 4-6.
TUITION: $275 (due at time of registration) includes Eventbrite fee and materials.
MATERIALS NEEDED: All materials are provided by the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and costs are included in the tuition.
LUNCH: Students must bring a packed lunch unless other arrangements have been made.
CANCELLATIONS: Occasionally camps are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. In such cases, we will notify you approximately 3 days before the camp was scheduled to begin & the full tuition will be refunded.
WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS: Students may withdraw from a camp by calling the Artsmiths. A $25 charge applies to all withdrawals, regardless of when it occurs. No camps will be refunded with less than two week’s notice.
DISCOUNTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS – Families who register more than one student or students who take more than one class in the same summer will receive a 10% discount on the registrations after the first one. You must email us at email@example.com to receive this discount. Students who would have financial difficulty registering for a camp may apply for a scholarship. A very small number of scholarships are available at this time but if you need financial help, please click here and complete our scholarship application. All correpondance is entirely confidential.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Artsmiths communicates to students and parents through email. Please make sure to include your email address when you register. You will receive a confirmation email for your registration. In addition you will need to complete our Emergency and Authorization Information, and Special Needs Forms.
