All instruction will take place at The Artsmiths in Mt. Lebanon.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Dream up ideas for sculptures and gadgets. Sketch your plans then create works with wood, hardware, wire, plaster and repurposed materials. Decorate works with paint and decoupage techniques. Learn about studio safety and work with hand-powered tools. Students will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of approaches including kinetic art, freestanding sculpture and wall-mounted works.
INSTRUCTOR: Tom Sarver is Pittsburgh-based artist and puppeteer. His work has been exhibited widely, including shows at the Mattress Factory, Carnegie Museum of Art and Westmoreland Museum of American Art. Sarver has taught workshops in sculpture for both children and university students.
AGE LEVEL: 11-14
TUITION: $295 (due at time of registration) includes Eventbrite Fee and materials.
MATERIALS NEEDED: All materials are provided by the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and costs are included in the tuition.
LUNCH: Students must bring a packed lunch unless other arrangements have been made.
CANCELLATIONS: Occasionally camps are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. In such cases, we will notify you approximately 3 days before the camp was scheduled to begin & the full tuition will be refunded.
WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS: Students may withdraw from a camp by calling the Artsmiths. A $25 charge applies to all withdrawals, regardless of when it occurs. No camps will be refunded with less than two week’s notice.
DISCOUNTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS – Families who register more than one student or students who take more than one class in the same summer will receive a 10% discount on the registrations after the first one. You must email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive this discount. Students who would have financial difficulty registering for a camp may apply for a scholarship. A very small number of scholarships are available at this time but if you need financial help, please email us at email@example.com with Scholarship in the subject line. All correpondance is entirely confidential.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Artsmiths communicates to students and parents through email. Please make sure to include your email address when you register. You will receive a confirmation email for your registration and an information email shortly thereafter about the camp along with forms for Emergency and Authorization Information, and Special Needs. You will also receive a reminder email 7 days before the start of camp.
